HONEY! How sweet it is!

honey I just LOVE honey!! I am a personal fan of a local bee keeper here in North Carolina who makes honey and it is absolutely DELISH! I LOVE honey in my tea and even just a small spoonful to curb that sweet craving I tend to get often.

But there are sooo many benefits to honey that go beyond its sweet taste both internal and external.  Today I want to focus on the external side of this sweet and delectable goodness.

First, honey is a humectant which means it draws moisture to the skin so it makes for great hydration when added to a product or used as a mask.  Milk and honey helps the skin to have a smooth healthy glowing look which by the way was an ancient beauty regiment that kept the women’s skin looking youthful and and healthy.

Honey is known as a natural antioxidant and antimicrobial which helps fight free radicals from damaging the skin as well as protect the skin from sun damage.  It also helps the skin rejuvenate cells to keep the skin supple and soft.

Another beautiful thing about honey is its ability to diminish pimples…YES it can help reduce the redness and dry out the pimple also.  So, the next time a pimple pops up, never fear if you keep honey near! Dab some honey on it and let it sit for about 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.  Dab the skin dry with a dy wash cloth or paper towel do not rub the pimple because this may cause irritation.

Lastly, try honey as a facial mask by adding a little nutmeg to it (for a measurement do one teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of nutmeg and mix well), massage gently and let it sit for 5 to 20 minutes then rinse with warm water, spritz the skin with rose water, and while the skin is still damp massage a little olive oil in as a moisturizer. There you have it an at home natural skin care tip you can do right from your kitchen!

I hope this helps!
